Stanford, Calif. -The Stanford women's gymnastics team will not compete in the quadrangular meet at the University of California this Friday, announced head coach Kristen Smyth. The Stanford staff has rescheduled with Cal, and will travel to Berkeley for a meet next season. The Golden Bears will still host a triangular meet that includes visiting squads from Brown and UC Davis. The Cardinal will begin the 2005 campaign when they travel to Seattle to compete against Washington on January 21.
"We have decided to reschedule our meet against Cal this Friday night and will look forward to traveling to Berkeley in 2006," stated coach Smyth. "The coaching staff feels that it is in the best interest of our student-athletes to push back the start of the season by one week. I would like to thank head coach Cari Dubois and the University of California for being flexible and agreeing to reschedule the meet with us for next season. We are scheduled to compete against Cal twice this season; March 4th at the University of Utah and on March 19th at San Jose State University. We look forward to those upcoming competitions."
Stanford's first home meet is scheduled for January 28, against Oregon State at Burnham Pavilion.
