Sam Magee And USA Women's Eight Advance To Final

MILAN, Italy - Stanford's Sam Magee sat in the six seat of the USA Women's Eight that raced yesterday in the qualify heats at the World Championships in Milan, Italy. The U.S. Women's Eight, including six rowers from last year's victorious crew in Seville, Spain, led its heat from the start on the artificial lake Idroscalo. Australia, China and Belarus were relegated to repechages. Romania won the second heat and sent Germany, Canada, and Ukraine to Wednesday's repechages as well. Finals will be held on Sunday, August 31.

Additionally, Stanford's Jamie Schroeder who competed in the USA Men's 4- finished second in their heat and thus goes to the reprechages on Wednesday. In their rep they will face Serbia, China, Russia, and Lithuania.
