STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford junior Henry Anderson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District® VIII Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and released today to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Anderson and the other first-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Anderson, now in his junior year at Stanford, carries a 3.43 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in political science.
On the field, Anderson is having a breakout year in his first season as a starting defensive end. The 6-foot-6 athlete has 3.5 sacks among 6.5 tackles for loss through nine games this season, while leading the defensive front seven with four pass breakups.
To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.
No. 16/15 Stanford faces off against No. 13/12 Oregon State this Saturday in the Cardinal's regular season home finale at Stanford Stadium, with playoff stakes for the Pac-12 North championship. The game kicks off at noon PT and is nationally broadcast on FOX.
