STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford junior pitcher Teagan Gerhart has been selected as the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 20-26, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Gerhart registered five wins in the circle to lead the Cardinal to an undefeated weekend at the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. The Norco, Calif., native posted a 0.22 ERA, allowing just one run in 31.2 innings pitched. She tallied 30 strikeouts, including the 500th of her career, and issued just four walks and 12 hits.
On Friday, she recorded shutouts over Long Island and sixth-ranked Oklahoma. It marked just the second loss of the year for the Sooners and was Stanford's first win over a ranked opponent this season. Against New Mexico State, Gerhart fanned 10 batters, marking the second time this season she has reached double-digit strikeouts.
It is the fourth conference Pitcher of the Week honor for the junior. Stanford travels to Fullerton, Calif., this weekend for the DeMarini Invitational, held Mar. 2-4. The Cardinal will face Indiana, Northwestern, Florida International, Michigan State and East Carolina in the three-day tournament.
