Stanford women's lacrosse All-American goalkeeper Laura Shane was named MPSF Player of the Week Monday, following a 17-save performance that helped the Cardinal (4-2, 2-1 MPSF) to an upset victory over No. 10 Notre Dame over the weekend. The victory over Notre Dame was Stanford's second victory over a ranked team over the weekend, after beating No. 20 Oregon earlier in the season.
Shane, a native of Baltimore, Md., recorded 11 first-half saves and six second-half saves to propel the Cardinal to the improbable victory. Shane has been in net for every minute of Stanford's six games, and has recorded a .556 save percentage in that time. This is Shane's second MPSF honor, after winning the award after the season's first weekend.
Stanford continues their homestand this week as they take on Boston College on Wednesday, Mar. 5 at 3:30 p.m. and No. 5 Penn on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 1:00 p.m. Both games will take place at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
