Woodland, Calif. - Junior Sarah Bach was named as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after leading the Cardinal to two victories in the team's final home stand of the season last weekend. Bach scored the game-winning goal with 55 seconds remaining as Stanford defeated No. 19 Yale on Friday, and recorded a hat trick in the team's 17-14 victory over Denver on Sunday.
The Baltimore native tallied two goals in Friday's win over the Bulldogs, lifting the Cardinal to a 9-8 victory with an unassisted score with just 55 seconds remaining in the contest. She added two ground balls and two draw controls as Stanford recorded its first victory over a nationally ranked team this season. Bach continued her torrid scoring pace on Sunday, scoring three goals and assisting on another tally as Stanford knocked off Denver 17-14. For the weekend, Bach scored five goals, collected three ground balls, four draw controls, and one assist.
Bach was named as the MPSF Player of the Week on February 21st after leading the Cardinal to three victories to begin the season. She currently leads the team with 27 goals and 33 points.
The Cardinal received votes in the most recent IWLCA poll for the first time this season following the two victories. The win over Denver clinched the program's fifth straight undefeated regular season conference mark, and the Cardinal will be the top seed at the MPSF Championships that begin on May 5th in Moraga. Stanford resumes play this Saturday, traveling to face Loyola in Baltimore.
