STANFORD, Calif. -- Emilie Boeri was named the WomensLax.com National Player of the Week after her game-changing role in this week's win over No. 9 James Madison. The Cardinal senior scored five goals and added three assists, leading Stanford to a come-from-behind win.
Stanford trailed 8-3 at the half and was on the brink of losing their fourth straight game to a ranked opponent when Boeri put the team on her shoulders and willed them to a 14-13 comeback win. Boeri scored 44 seconds into the second half, sparking the Cardinal offense which had been stifled in the first half.
The senior made a difference all over the field, with her 5 goals and 3 helpers, but also addiding a ground ball and a draw control. Boeri's most timely goal came with under a minute remaining in the game and Stanford trailing by a goal. She tied the game at 13 on a free position shot with 32 seconds left on the clock.
Stanford went on to win, as Anna Kim scored the 14th goal with just nine seconds remaining in the game, ending their three-game losing streak. Boeri will look to keep Stanford on track this weekend when they host Vanderbilt, Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00pm.
Boeri now leads Stanford with 12 points on the season. She is tied for the team lead with eight goals and leads the Cardinal with four assists.
