Precourt will be competing for the final time at home this Friday, Mar. 7 at Maples Pavilion at 7:00 p.m. Come cheer on Precourt and the five other Stanford women's gymnastics seniors for one last time this Friday.

Seven Questions with Aimee Precourt:

Why did you choose Stanford?
In my eyes, Stanford offered "the best of both worlds" academically and gymnastically. I fell in love with the university, the people, and the team on my recruiting trip and knew right away it was the right place for me...a place where I would fit in and be happy and that would also challenge me and provide opportunities for growth.

How has Stanford women's gymnastics changed you since you came in as a freshman?
So many things have resulted from my experience as a member of Stanford Women's Gymnastics, probably more than I even realize. One that especially stands out to me, however, is that it has taught me a lot about being a part of a team (as the club world of gymnastics is mostly about the individual) and has thus made me a better team player over the years. Practices, competitions, winning and losing are not about me, but about us all and as the years progressed, I learned what it meant to be motivated by a group of individuals that are united toward a common goal...it didn't all have to come from within. I do things not for me, but for all the other girls who have put in the hours, the pain, and the sweat with me. I have realized what it means and have come to cherish the opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself, not of myself, and will continue to seek out such opportunities for the rest of my life.

What is your most memorable meet these past four years?
There have been many, but first day of NCAAs last year is probably the most memorable. Getting to nationals was a huge excitement and accomplished goal for us, but actually being there hitting routine after routine, living out our goals is beyond words. The team was determined, confident and solid, but above that it was united in its vision and performance. The essence of that moment, that day, can only be felt to be understood. Every time i think of it, I get goosebumps and it brings tears of joy to my eyes. Those are the moments we work so hard for and those are the moments most beautiful when shared.

Describe a memorable off the court moment as a team in your time at Stanford?
Often times, as a team activity before meets, the coaches put us into groups and we have to come up with some skit, dance, etc to perform. They are usually extremely entertaining...whether it be from good humor, poor acting, dancing, or singing or sheer embarrassment. I can't even begin to describe the magnitude of laughter that results from these activities and the best part of all is that it is all on video!

What is your favorite class at Stanford?
I have many, but probably Developmental Neurobiology.

What is something you would tell any aspiring gymnast?
Do the sport because you love it, not because someone else tells you to. Work hard and don't be discouraged by the bad times, they only make you stronger. Never lose sight of your dreams...you can do anything you put your mind to!

What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I'm getting married in July! And after, my fiancee and I will be in the Stanford area working for a year while we apply to medical school together.
