LOS ANGELES-- Stanford seniors Meg Hostage (one-meter) and Brent Eichenseer (three-meter) topped the field on the second day of the Bruin Invite, but the team's younger members may have stole the show, as freshmen Dhruv Tyagi and Kylie Rosenstock and junior Taylor Sishc all finished in the top-five.
Hostage ran the table on the three rounds of the one-meter, winning each round with scores of 275.20 in the prelims, 285.45 in the semifinals and 278.45 in the finals. Rosenstock reach her second-straight finals, as did Stephanie Phipps, with Rosenstock bettering her semifinal performance (260.55) of fifth, one spot, to fourth (260.65). Phipps was tenth. Hostage won for the second-straight day.
On the men's side, Eichenseer and teammate Noah Garcia battled for the top two spots over the first two rounds with the senior coming away with the top scores throughout. Eichenseer led five Cardinal divers in the top-six with a mark of 360.70.
Tyagi steadily moved up from fifth in the prelims (321.65) to fourth in the semifinals (301.80) before finishing ahead of Sishc (324.00) with a mark of 327.35 as the two Cardinal finished, 2-3. Garcia ended up fifth (317.85) and freshman Larry Reinhard, Jr. was sixth (310.10) of the 12-diver final.
The Bruin Invite concludes on Sunday with the platform for both teams.
