ABOUT UTAH VALLEY: Utah Valley enters the week with a 3-2 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the WWC. The Wolverines are coming off a perfect 39-0 dual against Northern Colorado last Saturday. Stanford is the second Pac-12 squad to travel to Orem this season, as UVU defeated Arizona State on Jan. 18 (26-15). The Wolverines are led by redshirt freshman 125 pounder Jade Rauser, who has posted an 18-5 overall record and 5-0 mark in duals this season. Junior 174-pounder Monte Schmalhaus is 16-7 on the year and 4-1 in duals for UVU.

ABOUT BOISE STATE: The Broncos are ranked 17th in the latest InterMat.com poll, posting a 6-5 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the Pac-12. BSU has picked up wins in its last four duals and will face conference foe CSU Bakersfield on Friday, Feb. 1 before facing the Cardinal. The Broncos boast five ranked wrestlers, including No. 2 Jason Chamberlain (19-1), a redshirt senior, at 149 pounds. Also in the top 20 are No. 10 J.T. Felix (heavyweight), No. 11 Jake Swartz (184 pounds), No. 14 George Ivanov (157 pounds) and No. 20 Brian Owen (133 pounds).

TOP PERFORMERS: Juniors Bret Baumbach (165 pounds) and Dan Scherer (heavyweight) and redshirt freshman Evan Silver (125 pounds) have been the Cardinal's top performers all season long. The trio, which has combined for 56 wins this season, all registered bonus points in the dual versus Cal Poly. Silver is the first Cardinal wrestler to reach 20 wins this year. He is just one win away from breaking into the top 10 of the school's freshman wins list. Baumbach has strung together a season-high seven consecutive wins, while Scherer is tied for third on the squad with 17 wins.

LOOKING AHEAD: Stanford returns to The Farm next week to play host to San Francisco State. The Cardinal and Gators are set to square-off on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 3:30 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion. Admission is free. Stanford will also continue Pac-12 competition next Sunday, Feb. 10 at CSU Bakersfield at 3 p.m.

HEAD COACH Jason Borrelli: Stanford is under the guidance of a fifth-year head coach Jason Borrelli. During his time on The Farm, Borrelli has accrued a 41-49-3 record and sent five wrestlers to the NCAA Championships a total of 12 times. Borrelli, a former Central Michigan standout, first came to The Farm as an assistant coach in 2007 and quickly helped guide the Cardinal to one of its most successful seasons in school history. Since then, Stanford has finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships the past two seasons, including a program-best 11th at the 2011 tournament in Philadelphia, Pa.
