Stanford, Calif. - Seniors Nina Pantano and Kelsey Twist have been selected to play for the South in the North/South Senior All-Star Game at the University of Maryland Baltimore County on June 4. The game is part of the 2005 STX Farewell Lacrosse Festival that will include All-Star games for Divisions I, II, and III.
Pantano capped her collegiate career by earning tournament Most Valuable Player honors at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship, and earned All-Conference accolades for the third time. One of the team's three captains, Pantano ranked third on the squad with 29 goals and collected 19 ground balls on the season. The Wayne, PA native scored the game-winning goal with 18 seconds remaining the Cardinal's 6-5 win over Notre Dame in April, and registered a hat trick in Stanford's MPSF Championship game win over Cal on May 7.
Twist finished her career on The Farm ranked second on the program's all-time chart with 119 goals, and is Stanford's all-time leader with 70 career assists. One of the team's three captains, Twist earned MPSF All-Conference honors three times during her career and set the program record with 161 career draw controls. Twist received National Player of the Week honorable mention recognition from Inside Lacrosse Magazine and womenslacrosse.com on February 18 after setting the Stanford single-game record with five assists against UC Davis.
The Cardinal standouts are the only two players from the West Coast that were selected to play in this year's North/South All-Star Game. The contest is one of three that will take place at UMBC Stadium as part of the STX Farewell Lacrosse Festival on June 4. The Division III game will be played at 11:00 am, while the Division II game is scheduled for 1:00 pm and the Division I contest is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
