Baltimore, Mary. - Junior Megan Burker and freshman Daphne Patterson each scored five goals to lead the No. 20 ranked Stanford women's lacrosse team to a 20-16 win over Loyola in Baltimore on Saturday. The goal total marked a season-high for the squad, and the Cardinal extended its winning streak to four games with the victory. Stanford improves to 10-5 on the season, while the Greyhounds fall to 4-9 overall.

Loyola struck first, scoring less than a minute into the contest and adding another goal four minutes later. Burker got the Cardinal on the board with an unassisted score at the 23:38 mark, tipping off a seven-goal barrage that put Stanford firmly in control of the game. Junior Sarah Bach followed up Burker's score with two straight goals, and the Cardinal continued the assault with two goals by Patterson, a score by senior Kelsey Twist, and another tally by Burker to stake Stanford to a 7-2 lead. Loyola scored twice to stem the tide, but the Cardinal got goals from senior Nina Pantano, Burker, and sophomore Michelle DeChant to answer back. The Greyhounds rounded out the scoring in the first period with two goals, but the Cardinal took a 10-6 lead into intermission.

Stanford picked up where they left off in the second half, as Bach finished off her hat trick with a goal at the 28:24 mark. Sophomore Liz Piselli followed up Bach's tally with two straight goals, giving the Cardinal a 13-6 advantage before Kate McHarg scored for Loyola. After Burker netted her fourth goal of the contest, the Greyhounds went on a three-goal run before Twist tallied with 17:13 left in the contest. The Cardinal offense continued to pour it on, as Piselli scored her third goal of the game and Patterson tallied her fourth score to put Stanford up 17-10. Loyola answered back with four straight goals to cut the Cardinal advantage to 17-14. The two squads then traded goals, with Burker scoring her fifth of the afternoon, before Patterson sealed the victory with a goal at the 2:23 mark and another with 48 seconds remaining in the game.

Loyola's Sydney Greene and Kate McHarg led all scorers with six goals apiece. Burker and Patterson led all Stanford scorers with five goals each, and Burker added three assists. Piselli and Bach recorded hat tricks for the Cardinal, and Twist scored a pair of goals. The Cardinal out-shot the Greyhounds by a 34-32 margin, and Stanford was 8-for-11 on free position shot attempts.

Freshman Laura Shane collected 10 saves in net for the Cardinal, while Loyola's Kim Lawton and Cindy Nicolaus combined to make 10 saves for the Greyhounds.

Stanford wraps up regular season play at Ohio State next Saturday, before heading to Moraga, CA for the MPSF Championships the following weekend.
