Stanford, Calif. - California's Nic Bartolotta and USC's Blythe Hartley won the men's and women's 1-meter finals during the first day of the Stanford Diving Invite at Avery Aquatic Center's Maas Diving Facility on Friday. Stanford divers Adam Peterson and Ashlee Rosenthal were the top finishers for the Cardinal in the respective men's and women's events, both finishing third.
Bartolotta scored 316.30 points to win the men's 1-meter competition, followed by teammate Robbie Quinn (292.15) and Peterson (269.55). Other Stanford divers in the event included Jesse Fonner (4th, 258.80), Matt Bisordi (5th, 253.55), Brian Ferris (7th, 239.80) and Jeff Durbin (9th, 192.10).
Hartley won the women's 1-meter competition with a score of 321.60, followed by teammate Nicci Fusaro (281.50) and Rosenthal (256.00). Other Stanford divers in the event included Alexis Sowa (4th, 254.45), Kim Powers (5th, 253.55), Erica Sorgi (6th, 247.70) and Lauren Donovan (7th, 245.35).
The prelims for the 3-meter competition was also held on Friday with Stanford's Jesse Fonner (479.10) the top men's qualifier for Saturday's finals. Hartley was the top women's qualifier in the 3-meter event with a score of 557.60.
The Stanford Diving Invite concludes on Saturday with the men's and women's 3-meter finals (10:00 a.m.), followed by the men's and women's platform competition (2:00 p.m.).
