SHANGHAI, China - Ni hao from Shanghai. Since you could not be here with us, we thought we'd share our experience with all of you. We are here with the U-21 Women's National Team playing a little soccer and bargaining our way through the markets of China.

The day started bright and early when the alarm went off at 5 a.m. Hayley and Jenny took their last final and Barnie was lucky enough to sleep a few more hours and take hers on the plane.

We endured a 14-hour plane ride and landed at 7:30 p.m. in Shanghai, ready and open to spend our spring break experiencing a new culture.

As you can tell, we've mastered the language but we are definitely struggling with the food. We have been here two full days, training once each day. During our free time, we've taken trips to the marketplace in downtown Shanghai. We've learned the bartering ways, while dodging the persistent store owners as Chinese policemen shielded us from unwanted attention.

Today, we face the Shanghai Women's Team and we are hopeful to come out with a victory for our first game. We've found the sun doesn't shine in Shanghai, but this is a spring break we will never forget.

Jenny, Hayley, Barnie
