Boston, MA - In perfect fall racing conditions the women's varsity eight finished tenth overall in the women's Championship Eight event out of forty and sixth collegiately. Racing in a field that included three international eights and ten collegiate boats who participated at the 2003 NCAA's the Stanford women clocked a time of 16.32.5 with one second separating fourth through seventh place. Yale won in a time of 16.08.
Coach Aimee Baker commented on the results stating, "This is a motivating finish for the boat. They got off to a good start in the race and then lost their timing in the last mile. We have a lot of room to improve and are excited to get to work."
The field of forty included the US National team with Cardinal Sam Magee rowing bow seat. Magee represented the US in the World Championships this summer and is spending the year away from the Farm training for the 2004 Olympics. 2003 graduate Sabrina Kolker rowed for team Canada that won the Women's Championship four event.
