SAN ANTONIO - The Stanford synchronized swimming team finished second in the University of Incarnate Word Invitational, Saturday, in San Antonio, Texas.
The meet began with the trio event, where two Stanford teams tied for second behind the host Incarnate Word. The Cardinal's Madison Crocker, Morgan Fuller and Olivia Morgan earned an 83.333 as did the team of Koko Urata, Corinne Smith and Wendy Lu. Stanford's other team of Alex Bollaidlaw, Jessica Guenther and Maria Koroleva tied for fifth with an 82.667.
Koroleva and Morgan finished well ahead of their competition in the duet with an 88.000. Placing second with a score of 84.667 was Stanford's Crocker and Fuller. Incarnate Word took third place with a score of 83.667, while two teams from Lindenwood University finished fourth and fifth with an 82.667 and an 81.667, respectively.
Stanford senior Gayle Lee finished fifth in the solo competition with a score of 83.500. Incarnate Word captured first with an 87.333.
In the team final, Stanford claimed the top spot with a score of 88.333. Swimming for the Cardinal was Bollaidlaw, Crocker, Fuller, Guenther, Lu, Morgan, Smith and Urata.
Stanford heads to Tucson, Ariz., next week to compete against the University of Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 26.
