David Lofton will play in the annual Hula Bowl on Sunday, January 14 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lofton, a three-year letter-winner from Plano, Texas, played three positions during his Cardinal career, but was a safety during his final three seasons. Lofton started the first five games of the 2006 season and played in eight before an injury forced him to miss the final four games.
Lofton, the son of former Cardinal All-American and NFL Hall of Famer, James, came to Stanford from Plano, Texas as a highly-touted quarterback. After redshirting his freshman season at quarterback, he was moved to wide receiver for his sophomore year. During his final three seasons, however, Lofton was a key member of the Cardinal's secondary as a safety.
In 2006, Lofton played in eight games, starting six, and finished with 47 total tackles. He recorded a career high 12 tackles in game two vs. San Jose State and added 11 tackles against Notre Dame.
