PALO ALTO, Calif. -- As Stanford Lacrosse continues to get more and more name recognition nationally, the interest in the program compounds each year. This year nine new freshmen entered the program, each with a specific talent to lend the team. Lauren Dietrich and Liz Lanese, both two-time High School All-Americans, bolster our numbers from the mid-west, hailing from Ohio and Missouri respectively. Kim Cahill, another High School All-American, continues the pipeline from the perennial California powerhouse, Thacher School. Another exciting addition is goalie, Rachael Neumann, from Syosset, NY.

Even with the addition of all these new faces, Stanford will look to the powerful game of junior, Katharine Barnes who was the team leader with 53 goals, 66 points. Offensively, the Card continues to dominate with the return of sophomore, Caroline Osterwise who had 40 goals, 58 points and senior, Hedy Born who had 33 goals, 49 points. The Cardinal also looks to the mighty contributions of Liz Britt and Sara Lev to even out the attack.

Defensively, sophomores, Emily Rodriguez (46 Ground Balls), Caroline Osterwise (41 GB) and Jenny Silverman (35 GB) led the team in ground balls. The defense looks unbeatable under the direction of new assistannt coach, Christy Plotner.

In the big picture, this team is the total package. They have speed, tenacity and a will to win! Their captains, Rachel Gallagher and Christina Gilyutin, will guide this team to another awesome season on the farm.
