Women's Gymnastics Advances to NCAA Regionals

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Stanford University Women's Gymnastics team will advance to the 1999 Regional Championships, the NCAA announced today. With a Regional Qualifying Score of 195.8697, Stanford finished ranked seventh in the country, which automatically qualified the team for regional action. The Cardinal will compete in Region Four, which is hosted by #5 Louisiana State, on Saturday, April 10th. Stanford and LSU will be joined at the regional by #24 Kentucky, #30 Central Michigan, #36 Auburn and #40 Ball State.

The regional competition consists of six different regional locations which each feature six teams and six all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team). The top two teams and the all-around winner winner from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the the National Championships. This year's NCAA Championship will take place in Salt Lake City from April 22nd-24th.
