Stanford, Calif. - No. 15 Stanford (8-5, 2-1 MPSF) will look to bounce back after suffering its first conference loss since 2008 last Sunday in Denver. This weekend the Cardinal will host Oregon (6-8, 2-1 MPSF) and Saint Mary's (4-8, 1-3 MPSF) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Ducks come to town on Friday night at 6:00 p.m., while the Gaels come calling on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Cardinal is 5-1 all-time against Oregon, including a 17-5 victory in Eugene last season. Sarah Flynn will lead the high scoring Stanford attack against the Ducks with her team-leading 27 goals on the season. Last season Dana Lindsay scored four goals, while Lauren Schmidt had three versus Oregon.
Sunday will be senior day, as the Cardinal lacrosse program will honor eight seniors. Sarah Blahnik, Julie Christy, Charity Fluharty, Eleanor Foote, Claire Hubbard, Lindsay, Leigh Lucas and Amanda Schwab will all be honored for their outstanding careers and contributions to Stanford lacrosse.
This senior class has already won three MSPF conference tournament championships and totaled 43 wins in their 3+ seasons. The seniors will look to finish strong with wins the three remaining regular season games before heading back to Denver for the MPSF Conference Tournament. If the Cardinal can take the conference title, the seniors will be able to add the only thing missing from their career resumes, a trip to the NCAA tournament.
The Cardinal are 22-0 all-time against Saint Mary's, including an 18-7 win last year in Moraga. The Cardinal have more wins over Saint Mary's than any other school in program history.
