WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Stanford swimmer Eugene Godsoe was honored by the Pac-10 Conference for the second time in his career, as he was named the conference's November Swimmer of the Month.
It is the third honor that the All-American backstroker has garnered during the fall season. He was previously awarded two national swimmer of the week honors by collegeswimming.com.
Godsoe's month included a win at the Cal Triple Distance meet, in which he won the 50, 100 and 200 backstrokes with times of 22.58, 48.26 and 1:47.00; and a first place finish in the 400 medley. The medley time at the Toshiba Cup in Long Beach with a “B” standard time of 3:12.69.
Godsoe also posted a time of 46.67 in the 100 backstroke in Long Beach, the fastest time in the nation and also an “A” standard time, qualifying him for the NCAA meet in March.
Godsoe was also honored in November, 2007. Godsoe is the defending Pac-10 champion in the 100 and 200 backstroke and is a 10-time All-American entering his final season.
