Stanford, CA - The Stanford men's and women's swimming teams swept the Southern Cal All-Stars in an exhibition swim meet at Avery Aquatics Center. The Stanford men's team posted a dominating 116-35 victory, while the women's squad squeaked out a 74-69 decision. The meet featured a modified dual meet schedule with eight events on both the men's and the women's sides. The Stanford men won seven of the eight events contested. Mario Scussel (50m free, 24.39), Steven Brown (400m IM, 4:32.64), Scott Ransenberg (50m fly, 25.91), Randal Bal (50m back, 27.13) and Anthony Robinson (50m breast) were individual winners for the Cardinal, while Stanford won the 400m medley relay (3:59.36) and the 400m free relay (3:34.76). Ryan Leaf (400m free, 4:10.99) was the only individual winner for the Southern Cal All-Stars. The Cardinal women won five of their events as Jessica Foschi (400m free, 4:29.03), Kelly Bennett (50m free, 27.29), Shelly Ripple (50m fly, 29.36) and Tara Kirk (50m breast, 32.95) were individual winners for Stanford, while the Cardinal 400m free relay team (4:01.59) was victorious. Southern Cal All-Star individual winners were Kristin Caverly (400m IM, 4:57.89) and Diana MacManus (50m back, 31.15), while the squad's 400m medley relay team (4:24.70) won its event.
