Seniors Larissa Fontaine and Sarah Harding were named First-Team Pac-10 All-Academic selections. Sophomore Katy Herbert was named an Honorable Mention Pac-10 All-Academic selection. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum of a 3.0 overall grade-point average and be a significant contributer to the team.
Senior Larissa Fontaine, a First-Team All-Academic, finishes her collegiate career as a Cardinal with three school records under her belt. The 1998 NCAA Champion in the vault, Fontaine is currently ranked as the top all-around gymnast in the country. She is also ranked No. 3 on the vault, 17th on the uneven bars, 24th on the balance beam and sixth on the floor. This season Fontaine has taken a team-high 24 individual titles, scored a perfect 10 on the floor, and reset the team record in the all-around at 39.825.
Senior Sarah Harding, a First-Team All-Academic selection, is one of the Cardinal's top performers on the floor. She is currently ranked 39th in the nation on the floor. She shares the school record with three other gymnasts on the floor with a perfect 10.
Sophomore Katy Herbert, an Honorable Mention All-Academic, has emerged as one of Stanford's strongest performers on the balance beam. Ranked 17th this season, she took the event title on the beam against Oregon State and Penn State, two of the hardest meets of the season. She also took the event title on the bars against Boise State. Herbert also gives Stanford depth on the floor and in the all-around.
