NICKNAME
I have two nicknames. I've been known as Ruben "Hurricane" Carter since I was two years old. At Stanford, I've also added Nightcrawler. I don't know why

FAVORITE FOOD
My mom's lasagna is the best, nothing like it

FAVORITE MUSIC ARTIST(s)
Nas.

FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM
The 49ers, but they have kind of fell off. I always grew up watching them. I wouldn't miss a game on TV. I also watched the Colts in Indiana.

FAVORITE PLACE TO HANG OUT
I like to hang out at my mom's house, just sit on the couch and watch TV to relax.

BEST BOOK YOU HAVE READ
"The Art of War" by Sun Tzu.

FAVORITE CLASS
It was an African-American Autobiography class. We read a lot of books by and about prominent African-Americans.

FAVORITE HOBBY
Listening to music. I mostly listen to rap, R&B, jazz and reggae. I just like to sit on the couch, listen to music and relax. No TV. I've got a pretty nice CD collection.

FAVORITE VIDEO GAME
Perfect Dark for Nintendo 64.

FAVORITE MOVIE
Friday. Chris Tucker made the movie.

FAVORITE TV SHOW
Other than SportsCenter, I try not to watch TV. Half of the time, it's a waste time.

FAVORITE ATHLETE
Vince Carter. He has a good last name and he competes all the time.

FAVORITE NON-FOOTBALL ACTIVITY
Whenever I can afford gas, I like to drive around.

IF YOU WERE GOING ON A ROAD TRIP AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE CD, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU TAKE?
"I Am" by Nas.

BEST VACATION OR TRIP YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN
When I drove from Indiana to California. It was just the drive, being alone on the road. I got to see a lot of things. It was a real peaceful time.

OPPONENT YOU WOULD MOST LIKE TO BEAT
They're all the same, but I really like beating USC.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE BEFORE A GAME? DO YOU HAVE ANY GAMEDAY SUPERSTITIONS?
I listen to my music on my headphones. I have one CD that is a game CD, but I don't always listen to it. It depends upon how I'm feeling. Also, I always wash my face before every game. I use a damp paper towel and wipe my face down in the locker room, folding it up and patting down the sides. I also throw the ball with (Stanford strong safety) Simba Hodari after every Friday practice. We throw it around for 10 or 15 minutes and then we say the number of the upcoming game to each other.

IF YOU COULD PLAY ANOTHER SPORT AT STANFORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
It would have to be basketball, but my skills are rusty. I play some basketball with the guys on the football team when we are out of season.

BEST THING ABOUT BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT STANFORD
The scholarship.

BEST PART ABOUT YOUR GAME
My pass coverage.

WHAT IS THE BEST SPORTING EVENT YOU HAVE EVER ATTENDED AS A SPECTATOR?
Anytime the Pacers play the Bulls at home in Indiana, it would always be a good game. I've been to a lot of those games. Anytime you can see Michael Jordan and Reggie Miller together on the same floor. Everybody's at the game.

SOMEWHERE YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN THAT YOU WOULD MOST LIKE TO VISIT
Cancun. I'm going to try to take the trip with some of the guys on the football team this spring.

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH A FAMOUS PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE?
President Clinton.

WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DOING IN 10 YEARS?
Hopefully, I want to be in the stages of developing my own agency. I want to have an agency where I can provide legal help for people with legal issues. I want it to be a place where people can trust us to do what is right for them. We would be able to take care of people's money and legal problems. I want to it to be a legitimate place that is looking out for their best interests, and I want to make sure it is not just for athletes but for everyone.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR ATHLETIC CAREER TO THIS POINT?
Going to the Rose Bowl last season. It was like having a dream come true. You play your whole high school career trying to get to the next level. We got to live that dream. A lot of people have never made it to the Rose Bowl.

MOST INFLUENTAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE
My mother. She sacrificed a lot in her life to raise her kids. She has a lot of strength, even now. She taught me independence and pride.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND STANFORD
Definitely, the scholarship. Also, a lot of people I met on the recruiting trip here were real cool and down to earth. You can't pass up an opportunity to go to Stanford. At first I wanted to stay home, but when I sat down and thought about it and my future, it was best for me to get away from home and come out this way.

WHAT IS SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT FEW PEOPLE KNOW?
If I say it now, then everybody's going to know.

WHAT WOULD YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SAY ABOUT YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE STANFORD?
I'd like to leave as one of the best cornerbacks who's ever come through here.

FAVORITE BREAKFAST CEREAL
Fruity Pebbles.

COKE OR PEPSI?
I don't drink soda.

WATCH SURVIOR? WHO DID YOU WANT TO WIN?
I didn't watch any of it. When they came out with the big thing on the winner, I didn't know what was going on.

PAPER OR PLASTIC?
Both. Paper, because I like to fry chicken.

HOW DIDYOU SPEND LAST SUMMER?
I spent last summer here at Stanford working out, working in the weight room as a physical trainer and going to summer school.
