STANFORD, Calif. - Fresh off a fourth-place national finish, the Stanford women's gymnastics team will perform for the first time when it takes on San Jose State in an intersquad meet on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Spartan Gym, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos streets on the San Jose State campus.

This will be the first competition to include members of the Stanford class of 2014, which includes 2008 Australian Olympian Shona Morgan and current Canadian all-around champion Kristina Vaculik.

Stanford lost four graduated seniors from last year's team, including All-Americans Carly Janiga and Blair Ryland, but returns a veteran team expects to compete for a national championship.

Seniors Shelley Alexander, Danielle Ikoma, and Allyse Ishino provide the leadership that has reached the NCAA Super Six finals three of the past four years.

Stanford opens the season in earnest Jan. 9 at the Pac-10 Showcase in Los Angeles, and begins its home season Jan. 23 against defending NCAA champion UCLA at Burnham Pavilion.
