Trio Reach A Finals on Day one of National Championships

IRVINE, Calif.-- Chad La Tourette, David Mosko and Robert Lovelace all reached “A” Finals of the ConocoPhillips National Championships on Tuesday, with La Tourette, one of America's top distance swimmers, finishing fourth overall in the 400-meter freestyle.

La Tourette, who just finished his sophomore season, came into the finals with the second-fastest preliminary time at 3:46.93. La Tourette's time of 3:48.76 was fourth, as teammate David Mosko finished in the seventh slot (3:52.64). Peter Vanderkaay won the event with a time of 3:46.88.

Lovelace also reached the top finals of the 100 breaststroke, finishing sixth with a time of 1:01.72, while John Criste was 24th in the “C” Finals (1:03.90).

The event runs through Saturday and live coverage is available on and NBC on August 7 and 8. Most trials begin at 9 a.m with finals starting at 6 p.m. Results from this event will help choose the American team to compete at the Pan Pacific Championships starting on August 18.
