Swimming and Diving Have Most Academic All-Pac-10 Members

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Pac-10 Champion Swimming and Diving placed five women and four men on the first team Academic All-Pac-10 team with an additional seven athletes on the second team. Thirteen were named honorable mention.

The Cardinal have the most first and second teammers of any conference program, either women (7) or men (9).

Kelsey Ditto, the Pac-10 Scholar Athlete of the Year for women's swimming, had the highest GPA, majoring in political science with a 3.99 GPA, while Erik Ravnan has a 3.91 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. NCAA runner-up Bobby Bollier has a 3.71 GPA, and Curtis Lovelace checks in a 3.70, both mechanical engineering majors. Morgan Prietstley has a GPA of 3.67 as a management, science and society major.

On the women's side, Kaia Simmons has a 3.69 GPA, Kate Dwelley has a 3.60 GPA as a psychology major and Kerry Kraemer has a 3.64 GPA as an international relations study. Liz Smith rounds out the first team on the women's side with a 3.59 GPA in biology.

Both the men's and women's squads won Pac-10 titles this past season. The men finished third at the NCAA Championships, the women, fourth.

The rankings combine athletes with 3.0 cumulative GPAs and higher and significant contributors to each team's success. The top-21 made the first team, the top-20 made the second team.
