WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford senior Jason Dunford has been named Pac-10 Swimmer of the Month for February, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Dunford, a senior captain, helped Stanford complete a perfect regular season with its victory over rival California. Against the Bears, Dunford won the 50 free with a time of 19.65, the only swimmer touching in at under 20 seconds. He was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team (3:10.87) which defeated Cal by almost two seconds. On Feb. 7, Dunford led the Cardinal to the win over USC on senior day. He captured a pair of wins in the 100 free (44.16) and the 100 fly (47.65). The Nairobi, Kenya, native was also a part of the winning 400 medley (3:13.95) and 200 free (1:19.79) relay teams that both set NCAA `B' standard times.
This is the second monthly honor for Dunford and the sixth Men's Swimmer of the Month overall for Stanford.
