STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University women's gymnastics team is proud to announce that Aimee Precourt has committed to attend Stanford, will join the squad this fall for the upcoming 2005 season. The addition of Precourt strengthens an already outstanding recruiting class for the Cardinal.
Precourt, a Houston, TX native is an outstanding Level 10 gymnast and trains at Champion Gymnastics Academy under Kellie Mizoguchi. Precourt has been a Junior Olympic National Qualifier for the last two years and is excellent on all four events.
"Aimee is a beautiful and talented gymnast," said Stanford Head Coach Kristen Smyth. "She has clean and exquisite bodylines. These two unique characteristics will be rewarded at the college level. She is extremely motivated to continue developing as an athlete and will be a huge addition to our program. We expect that she will make an immediate impact on all four events."
Precourt joins Lauren Elmore from Bloomington, IN, fellow Texan Stephanie Gentry from Plano, TX, Alexandra Pintchouk, from Princeton, NJ, Elizabeth Tricase from Itasca, IL, and Tabitha Yim from Irvine, CA to give the Cardinal arguably the best recruiting class in the country.
Stanford is coming off of a record-setting season in which the Cardinal finished a program-best third at the NCAA Super Six Championship. Stanford also captured the Pac-10 Championship and took home first place at the NCAA North Central Regional.
