MINNEAPOLIS-- Brent Eichenseer stamped his ticket to the NCAA Championships, finishing third in the men's platform, while classmate Meg Hostage finished third as well at the Zone E Diving Championships, her second-straight top-three finish.

Eichenseer and Hostage join freshman Stephanie Phipps at the upcoming NCAA Championships, starting March 17 for the women and March 24 for the men for both defending conference team champions.

Eichenseer scored a mark of 745.60, leading a group of four Cardinal in the top-12 finals. Taylor Sishc finished fifth (652.95), followed by freshmen Dhruv Tyagi in ninth (608.30) and Noah Garcia in 11th (551.85). Eichenseer was one of eight men set to move on to nationals, as the senior moved up the rankings each day, finishing seventh in the one-meter on Thursday and fifth in the three-meter on Friday.

Hostage, the Pac-10 champion in the platform, finished third with a score of 539.10, following a second place finish in the one-meter on Friday. Hostage and Phipps earned two of six spots.

Eichenseer carried over a score of 366.50 to the finals, remaining in third throughout the final six dives. He put an exclamation on the day with 8.0's or better on a back 2 ½ somersault tuck, followed by a reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck on his final two dives.

Hostage carried over the second-best prelim score, of 275.30 and scored a 63.00 on her second dive, scoring 6.5 or betters. Her best marks from the judges came on her fourth dive, a forward 2 ½ somersault pike, where she had 7.0's or better from six of the seven judges for 55.90 points.

The future bodes well for the Cardinal, as Tyagi, Garcia and Phipps are all freshmen.
