Stanford, CA - After finishing up finals this week the Cardinal Women's Lacrosse team heads to the East Coast for three tough games, facing Lafayette, Cornell and Harvard. On Sunday March 25 they face the Lafayette Leopards at 3pm ET. The Leopards are currently 2-1 Overall, 1-0 Patriot League after finishing off West Chester 18-12 last Saturday. Next they face the #14 Cornell Big Red on Tuesday, March 27 at 4pm ET. Cornell is 4-0 Overall, 1-0 Ivy League, coming off an 8-6 win over Vanderbilt. The final game of the East Coast trip will be on Thursday, March 29, when the Cardinal takes on the Harvard Crimson at Villanova at 12pm ET. The Crimson is 2-1 this season after a 14-11 victory over Boston College on Wednesday.
Stanford is currently 7-1 overall, 3-0 WWLL this season, coming off a three-game homestand where they defeated Davidson 14-12, #13 Vanderbilt 16-11 and Bucknell 15-10. Three Cardinal players, Katharine Barnes, Liz Britt and Liz Lanese, recorded a hat-trick in Wednesday's game against Davidson. Then, Barnes and Lanese followed up with 4 goals apiece vs. Vanderbilt on Friday. To close the homestand on Sunday, Barnes put in 5 goals against Bucknell and goalkeeper Rachael Neumann tallied 21 saves.
Tri-captain Barnes leads the team in scoring with 21 goals and 5 assists this season. Also powering the offense are: Lanese with 16 goals and 5 assists and Abbi Hills with 16 goals, 21 groundballs and 9 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Neumann has started all eight games for the Cardinal and has 86 saves on the season.
Stanford returns to The Farm to host the California Golden Bears on Saturday, April 7 at 1pm on Maloney Field.
