Racing in near perfect conditions (flat water, mid eighties weather) at the Head of the American on Lake Natoma, the Stanford Lightweight Women raced in the Open Pairs event, then jumped into the eight for the Open Eight event. In the Pairs event, Stanford finished fourth and seventh, and in the Open Eight Stanford finished ninth out of 16. However, Stanford posted the fastest Lightweight time of the day by 30 seconds.
Team captain Kerin Lanyi comented, "We raced well in the pairs and certainly held our own. The Eight race was only an hour after we finished racing in the pairs, and with only four fresh rowers in the boat - we were surprisingly able to hold a consistently high rate, keep a sound rhythm, and apply enough power to compete bow-ball to bow-ball with most of the other openweight crews in our race."
Next up for Stanford is the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on November 1st in Newport Beach, CA.
