TEMPE, Ariz. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team won the West Regional Sunday, defeating the University of Arizona and Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
Stanford finished first in all four events on the day, including a season-best swim in the team competition (91.333).
Madison Crocker, Morgan Fuller and Olivia Morgan won the trio event with a score of 87.167. Alex Bollaidlaw, Jessica Guenther and Maria Koroleva were second (84.500), while Wendy Lu, Corinne Smith and Koko Urata finished third (82.667).
For the first time this season, Croker and Fuller won the duet competition, scoring an 88.000. Koroleva and Morgan finished just behind the pair with an 87.833. Senior Gayle Lee captured the solo title with a score of 83.333.
"We are really excited about the win today," said assistant coach Sara Lowe. "ASU has a great program and we were happy to come down and compete against them in their own pool."
Up next, Stanford travels to Buffalo, N.Y., for the U.S. Collegiate National Championships, held Mar. 17-19.
