Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford University Athletic Department announced today the launch of gostanford.com/stadium, a website that will include breaking news on the major construction of Stanford Stadium, home of both the Stanford football team and Stanford University commencement.
On June 7, 2005, Stanford University's Board of Trustees gave preliminary approval for the re-building of the stadium. Athletic Director Ted Leland has stated that this construction is the single most important capital project in the history of Stanford Athletics.
"Stanford football fans are invaluable to the success of the Stanford Athletic Department," said Leland. "We rely on their support, and have developed this website to ensure that the most up-to-date stadium information is always available to them, from the future of season ticket packages to the layout of the new concession stands."
The website will aim to keep the Stanford community informed of construction progress. It will provide an overview of the project, including the reasons the stadium is being re-built and the features and amenities it will offer. Users will be able to receive ticket information and view photo galleries as well as an FAQ section that will answer questions received from the community.
Construction is scheduled to begin immediately following the November 26 football game versus Notre Dame. The next phase of the website is scheduled to launch in early December.
