Peter Marshall Helps U.S. To World Record And Gold In 400m Medley Relay

Moscow, Russia - Stanford swimmer Peter Marshall helped team USA to a gold medal and new world record in the 400m medley relay on the final day of the FINAl Short Course World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Fellow Cardinal Markus Rogan took fourth in the 200m backstroke (1:53.82).

The U.S. men's 400m medley relay broke the world record in a race that saw the top two teams swim under the previous mark (3:29.88, Australian team at 1999 SC Worlds). The Americans touched the wall at 3:29.00, with the Aussies right behind in 3:29.35. Aaron Peirsol led off the relay followed by David Denniston, Peter Marshall and Jason Lezak.

In other final action tonight, Cardinal alum Tom Wilkens finished sixth in the 200m fly, touching in 1:56.71.
