STANFORD, Calif. - With finals completed, winter quarter finished, and a weeklong break from classes, SWG took advantage of all our free time to do some activities we have eagerly wanted to do. Despite the weather being a little less sunny than we would have liked, we had some fun doing things indoors and sharing all of these activities together! The best rainy day activity? Cooking and baking!
Our team went to one of the houses on campus and utilized their huge kitchen to cook some dinner. A few girls pitched in with their favorite recipes, and a masterpiece was created in just a few hours. We had a crazy, laughter-filled dinner in normal SWG fashion and everyone even enjoyed the cleanup. Afterwards, we took on the Stanford men's volleyball team in bowling, and it is easy to say we won with our stylish bowling techniques. Skoly's easily being the most entertaining. The following morning we headed to workout for a little competition. Running through Game Day, our team was divided into two teams and competed against one other. The "Darin' Dippin' Dots" wearing polka dot bows versus the "Kiss This," with some rock band accessories.
Although it is hard to decide because we had so many great activities, I think everyone can agree that Wednesday after practice was our favorite part of Spring Break. Our entire team headed to the Spinner house in Danville for an absolutely amazing home-cooked meal, and some relaxation. We played video games like Rockband (some people, a.k.a. Peach, got a little more into it than others...), hung out, and finally played even more team games. It was fun to escape campus for a little bit and we were truly thankful the Spinners welcomed all of us into their home.
Friday was another eventful day, and probably SWG's favorite day in the gym because we decided to be somewhat ridiculous. Again running through Game Day, our team decided to spice things up with over-the-top makeup, crazy sunglasses, matching flame leotards, and slicked-back hair. Kudos to Shelley Jo for making all of our makeup sparkly and awesome, and although we were aiming for ridiculous, I saw 14 beautiful looking ladies. Not only was our appearance insane, but also our gymnastics was pretty outstanding. Even our landings, finishes, and celebrations were over-the-top and complemented our work perfectly. It is easy to say we absolutely controlled the day in SWG style. Friday night, a few girls on our team supported Stanford men's gymnastics and are proud to say they were in attendance as SMG captured their victory over Cal in their last regular season meet.
Saturday was a great ending to a wonderful spring break as the men's gymnastics team cooked dinner for both of our teams, and the ladies made the dessert. It was so fun to cook, play games, and just relax with one another. A perfect ending to a perfect break with a little competition, a lot of laughter, and some great cooking, what more could you ask for?!
Thanks for checking in!
