Curt Toppel Named Second Team All-MPSF

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford University placed four players on the all- Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball teams, conference executive director Al Beaird announced on Thursday. The four selections is the Cardinal's most since the 1997 NCAA Championship squad had five players honored.

Sophomore opposite Curt Toppel (Pacific Palisades, CA/Loyola HS) was named Second Team All-MPSF, while senior middle blocker Brett Youngberg (Surrey, B.C., Canada/Elgin Park Secondary) and junior outside hitter Marcus Skacel (Laguna Niguel, CA/Santa Margarita HS) were named to the third team. Senior setter Josh Lukens (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel HS) was named Honorable Mention All-MPSF.

Costas Theocharidis of Hawaii was named the MPSF Player of the Year, while Scott Touzinsky of Long Beach State and Kimo Tuyay of Hawaii were named Co-Freshmen of The Year. Carl McGown of BYU was named MPSF Coach of the Year.
