STANFORD, Calif. - After a 1-0 season-opening victory over Long Beach State, the No. 4 Stanford women's soccer team remains at home to take on Portland, the 2002 NCAA Champions, on Sept. 5 at Maloney Field at 7 p.m. The No. 18 Pilots defeated the Cardinal in the NCAA Quarterfinals last season 4-2 in penalty kicks.

First-year head coach Paul Ratcliffe notched his first win at Stanford's helm with the home-opener against LBSU on Aug. 31 at Maloney Field. Senior co-captain Allyson Marquand led the team with six shots and recorded the Cardinal's only score, an unassisted goal from 25 yards out in the 82nd minute of play. Stanford's defense allowed the 49ers only one shot that gave goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart a save and her 23rd career shutout game.

Stanford hosts Pepperdine on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. on Maloney Field.
