The Stanford Lightweight Women Won their third consecutive PCRC Championship in a time of 7:04. Racing into a slight head wind on near perfect water, the Stanford Lightweight varsity eight fought off a tough challenge from San Diego State in the first five hundred meters of the race. However, after a strong second five hundred, the Cardinal Lightweights hit thier stride and never looked back, eventually finishing 18 seconds ahead of the Aztecs.
Racing in the same event, The Cardinal JV eight, had their best race of the year, and finished in fourth place in a time of 7:34. Coach Acosta commented, "this was a big step in the right direction, the varsity rowed a really aggresive race, and we are all looking forward to continuing to push in the next few weeks as we prepare for the national championships. The JV was great, they went after it the whole way. We're thrilled that their last race was their best race of the year." Next up for the Cardinal Lightweight Varsity is the IRA National Championship on June fifth.
