STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford Football and The Cardinal Channel, the creative video production team of Stanford Athletics, today released the 13th episode of "How We Do It," the 15-week original video series that takes viewers inside all angles of the Cardinal Football program.
Episode 13, "World-Class," is built in two chapters:
Chapter 1 talks with Hans Gumbrecht, Albert Guérard Professor in Literature, about how he arrived at Stanford University from his native home in Germany to fall in love with Stanford Football and the Stanford scholar-athletes, both on the sideline and in the class room. The intellectual trade-off held by his peers at other institutions for the college varsity athlete is uniquely turned on its head at Stanford.
Taking viewers inside Stanford's Virtual Human Interaction Lab, Chapter 2 explores the research of Jeremy Bailenson, Associate Professor of Communication. He has had fifth-year senior C Sam Schwartzstein in his class room and cheered him on the football field, the combined experiences of which molded an adept research assistant in his virtual reality studies.
