CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 6 Stanford women’s volleyball team staved off a pesky Oregon State team to complete a 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 sweep, Saturday, at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore. The Cardinal moves to 20-5 overall and 13-3 in the Pac-12, while the Beavers fall to 9-18 overall and 0-16 in the conference.

Senior middle blocker Carly Wopat led Stanford with 13 kills on 18 swings with just one error (.667). Sophomore Inky Ajanaku added eight kills and six blocks, while sophomore Jordan Burgess finished with seven kills, 11 digs and tied her career-high with three aces. Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Howard registered seven kills, nine digs and two blocks, while senior Rachel Williams tallied five kills, including the 1,100th of her career, six digs, two blocks and two aces.

Sophomore setter Madi Bugg notched 34 assists, seven digs and two aces in the win. Junior libero Kyle Gilbert registered her 23rd double-digit dig match of the season, finishing with a team-high 15.

Stanford staved off Oregon State in the opening set, 25-22. There were eight tie scores and two lead changes in the first, in which the Cardinal hit just .171 as a team (12-6-35). OSU posted a .225 attack percentage. Wopat led Stanford with five kills and a block, while Burgess totaled three kills and two digs. Bugg and Gilbert collected five digs apiece to pace the defense. OSU middle blocker Amanda Brown led the Beavers with five kills.

The Cardinal again held off the Beavers, winning the second set 25-23. Stanford hit .297 in the set, and registered three team blocks, while holding OSU to a .216 attack percentage. Stanford fell behind early, but was able to overcome the deficit by getting five kills from Wopat and four each from Ajanaku and Howard. Gilbert continued to anchor the defense, tallying six digs in the set, while Burgess added four digs. Freshman Lila Toner led OSU with four kills and three digs.

Stanford completed its 16th sweep of the season with a 25-20 win in the third set. The Cardinal struggled again offensively, posting a .167 attack percentage, but put down five aces in the set, including two by Burgess and one on match point by senior Mary Ellen Luck. Burgess and Wopat led Stanford offensively with three kills each. Ajanaku finished with three blocks in the third to lead the defense. Brown and Toner finished with 10 kills apiece to lead OSU.

Stanford returns to The Farm next week to play host to No. 3 Washington and Washington State. The Cardinal will take on the Huskies on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and the Cougars on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. Both matches will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
