INDIANAPOLIS – Stanford swimming’s BJ Johnson and Eugene Godsoe claimed top-five finishes Friday at USA Swimming's Phillips 66 National Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium.
Johnson posted 1:00.68 in the men’s 100m breaststroke finals to finish fourth. He qualified to the finals with a prelim time of 1:01.42.
A day after recording consecutive personal bests in the 100m fly and earning a first-place finish, Godsoe went 53.86 in the 100m back to finish fifth. Godsoe recorded a 54.27 in the prelims.
Chad La Tourette finished 12th in the 400m free finals, finishing with a 3:53.15. Danny Thomson competed in the 400m free prelims and touched in at 4:01.70.
Complete Phillips 66 National Championships information, including results and competition schedules, is available online at USAswimming.org. The action continues daily through Saturday. Prelims will be held each day at 6 a.m. (PT), followed by finals at 3 p.m.
This meet is the sole qualifier for the U.S. team for the pool competition at the FINA World Championships, which runs July 28-Aug. 4 in Barcelona. The winner of each Olympic event will claim an automatic spot on the roster.
