Top-10 Finish in 100m Free

INDIANAPOLIS - Stanford swimming's David Nolan logged a top-10 finish in the 100m free on the opening night of USA Swimming's Phillips 66 National Championships Tuesday at the Indiana University Natatorium.

After touching 11th in the prelims in 49.72, Nolan responded with a 49.97 in the finals to finish 10th overall.

The rising junior was joined in competition on the day by former Cardinal swimmers Chad La Tourette and Bobby Bollier.

La Tourette went 15:10.96 for fourth in the 1,500 free. Bollier (1:57.35) led the pack through the prelims of the 200 fly, falling to fourth with a 1:57.40 in the finals.

Complete Phillips 66 National Championships information, including results and competition schedules, is available online at USAswimming.org. The action continues daily through Saturday. Prelims will be held each day at 6 a.m. (PT), followed by finals at 3 p.m.

This meet is the sole qualifier for the U.S. team for the pool competition at the FINA World Championships, which runs July 28-Aug. 4 in Barcelona. The winner of each Olympic event will claim an automatic spot on the roster.
