STANFORD, Calif.- Junior Anna Simmons, sophomores Kelsey Harbin and Hannah Thiemann and freshman Maddie Secco are in action this week, attempting to gain additional international playing experience with their respective national teams.
The trio of Harbin, Simmons and Thiemann recently wrapped up competition among 108 individuals at the USA Field Hockey Women's National Championship in Norfolk, Va., where a total of 24 players will earn selection to the U.S. National Team.
Harbin, who was a member of the runner-up USA squad at the Junior Pan American Championships last September in Guadalajara, Mexico, is bidding to make the U21 team that will compete in July's Junior World Cup in Germany.
Meanwhile, Secco is completing training this weekend with Canada's U21 team in a series of contests against Argentina. Secco, who joined Harbin in participating in last September's Junior Pan American Championships, has already been selected to the compete for Canada at the Junior World Cup.
A member of Canada's Junior and Senior National teams, Secco is scheduled to participate in additional test matches this summer and has a chance to eventually represent her country at the 2014 Women's World Cup.
