STANFORD, Calif. – A total of thirteen (13) Stanford varsity athletic teams have received Division I Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA, in an announcement made Wednesday, June 4. It is the highest total for Cardinal teams since the NCAA began tracking the data in 2004-05.

These 13 Stanford teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports. The school produced nearly half of the Pac-12 Conference total with the other 11 institutions combining for 14 awards.

Cardinal programs to receive the Public Recognition Awards are: baseball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, football, women’s golf, men’s tennis, men’s indoor track & field, men’s outdoor track & field, men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, men’s water polo, women’s water polo and wrestling.

On the heels of three-straight Bowl Championship Series appearances, Stanford football is illustrating dominance on the field and in the classroom where the Cardinal is one of just 13 FBS football schools to earn public recognition.

In baseball, the Cardinal is among just 32 programs and is one of two in the Pac-12 Conference to earn recognition. In women’s basketball the Cardinal is the lone Pac-12 representative amidst 39 programs nationwide.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. High-performing teams receiving awards posted APR scores ranging from 977 to a perfect 1,000.

Multiyear APRs for all Division I sports teams, including the teams receiving public recognition, will be announced June 11.
