MPSF All-Academic team Get Acrobat Reader

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior outside hitter Jake Kneller led a contingent of seven Stanford men's volleyball players named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team, giving the Cardinal the most representatives in the conference.

Kneller, a science, technology, and society major, carried a cumulative GPA of 3.68 for the highest of Stanford's All-Academic honorees. It was his third such honor, and the second for junior Steven Irvin.

Stanford's seven selections tied for first in the 13-team MPSF with UC San Diego. No other school had more than four.

Kneller's GPA actually was fourth-best on the team, though the three ahead of him was were not eligible did not meet the selection requirements for playing time or were freshmen. Sophomore Matt Aiello had the team's highest GPA, at 3.79.

Players must be at least a sophomore academically, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and play in at 50 percent of the team's competition to make the All-Academic team.

Of the 18 players on the Stanford roster, 17 had cumulative GPA's of 3.0 or above. The lowest GPA was a strong 2.90.

Stanford finished 15-13 after advancing to the postseason for the sixth consecutive season. The Cardinal finished with a No. 6 AVCA ranking to earn its sixth consecutive Top 10 finish.
