Morrissey Falls In Opening Round Of NCAA Singles

URBANA, Ill.- Sophomore John Morrissey's season came to an end on Wednesday, falling to Kentucky's Anthony Rossi 7-5, 6-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championship.

Morrissey, ranked No. 50 in the nation, was making his first career appearance in the 64-player postseason field. Rossi is ranked No. 5 in the country.

Morrissey concluded his season with a 21-15 overall record and was 11-9 in duals, playing all of his matches at the No. 1 spot. An All-Pac-12 Second Team honoree, Morrissey kicked off the year by reaching the round of 32 at the ITA All-American Championships and also advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
