USA Water Polo Senior National Team FINA World League Prelim rosters and schedule

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford men's water polo will be represented by five players as USA Water Polo announced its "A" and "B" Senior National Team rosters for this weekend's FINA World League Prelims in Los Alamitos.

The event, a combination of official and exhibition games, begins Friday, May 24 and concludes Monday, May 27. Along with the two U.S. squads, Canada and Brazil will also participate in the event.

Stanford will be represented by alumnus Jeffrey Schwimer '11 and current standout Alex Bowen on the U.S. "A" roster, while sophomores-to-be Adam Abdulhamid, Bret Bonanni and Griffin Bolan were named to the "B" roster.

This weekend will mark the second appearances of Schwimer, Bowen and Bonanni with the national team of 2013. The Cardinal trio was part of a U.S. Senior National Team that went 3-2 and claimed the silver medal at the UANA World Championship Qualification Tournament in February, earning for the U.S. a spot in the FINA World Championships set for July 22-Aug. 3.

Bowen scored five goals during the tournament, while Bonanni netted four goals and Schwimer found the back of the cage three times.

Bowen and Bonanni are each coming off of All-America campaigns in 2012. Bonanni led the Cardinal with 73 goals and was also named MPSF Newcomer of the Year while Bowen ranked second on the team with 64 goals.

Schwimer, a two-time All-American (2009-10), scored 84 goals over his Stanford career including a high of 33 as a senior in 2010.

Abdulhamid and Bolan, who each redshirted the 2012 season for Stanford, will make their first senior national team appearances.
