BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Andre Roberson scored 12 points and tied his career high with 20 rebounds, leading Colorado to a 75-54 rout of Stanford on Thursday night. It marked the Buffaloes' first win over the Cardinal in 22 years.

Askia Booker scored 13 points, including eight straight late in the second half after the Cardinal had trimmed an 18-point deficit to eight.

Roberson, who also had 20 boards against Fresno State last month, nearly had his eighth double-double of the season by halftime as the Buffs took a 44-29 lead into the locker room.

Colorado (13-6, 3-4 Pac-12) hadn't beaten the Cardinal (11-8, 2-4) since Dec. 23, 1990, in Boulder, losing five straight in the series.

Dwight Powell added 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Cardinal's leading rebounder and third-leading scorer, Josh Huestis, was plagued by foul trouble and was held to six points and six boards in 19 minutes.

Last year in Boulder, Colorado was held without a two-point bucket until the 3:41 mark of the first half. On Thursday, Askia Booker's jumper at the 18:39 mark gave the Buffaloes a 3-0 lead ... Dwight Powell scored in double figures for the sixth consecutive contest and 13th time overall ... Dwight Powell extended their individual free throw shooting streaks. Bright has now made 28 in a row dating back to Nov. 15 while Powell has knocked down his last 12 attempts dating back to Jan. 12 ... QUOTES

Stanford Head Coach Johnny Dawkins
"The first four minutes set the tone of the game. We did a great job of trying to respond and were able to cut the lead to single digits in the second half. We had a couple of opportunities then and didn't finish. We needed to make plays and cut the lead a little more. Colorado just came out and played a terrific ball game. I thought they played with terrific energy, moved well and defended well. They built a lot of momentum and it was tough to come back."

"We have been in those situations with foul trouble and have had to make some adjustments. Some guys stepped up for us and gave us energy off of the bench. Today we missed Josh (Huestis). He is a great rebounder and a great defender. Unfortunately, he got caught in early foul trouble. You have to play without fouling. Pick up one, and you still have to be able to play without getting yourself in foul trouble."

"My impressions of Andre Roberson are pretty much the same every time. He is a great player. I thought he was outstanding tonight, especially on the boards. What can you say? When a young man gets 20 rebounds in a 40-minute game, that takes effort and a lot of energy. It says a lot about that kid."

Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle
"The thing about coaching college basketball, is sometimes after a win, it is a sense of relief rather than joy. I was really proud of our players tonight, they responded well to the challenge we gave them. When we talk about defense and rebounding and you look at the numbers on the stat sheet tonight, and you play together offensively and have five guys in double figures, the result takes care of itself and there isn't really a lot to talk about. I think our players took a step forward tonight, understanding that and executing it."

"I have a lot of respect for Stanford, Johnny Dawkins, and their players. So from that standpoint, it is sweet. But relative to what happened last year, no, I'm just proud of our guys because Stanford is a good team and they have some good players. It is hard to win in this league and we are going to have a battle when we go back to Palo Alto now and our players know that. It is just one game and our players know that, take it and move on. We have to turn our attention to Cal."

Colorado Junior Andre Roberson
"I definitely feel like we had a lot to prove. Last year they gave us the business there (at Stanford) and here (in Boulder). Fortunately, we came out tonight and were able to put it on them, so I tip my hat off to the guys."

"Coming in, we wanted to be aggressive with Powell and limit his touches. It wasn't just me that guarded him. I felt like I had help from Josh [Scott] and Xavier [Johnson], as well. We just had to dictate. Put him where we wanted him to go and not where he wanted to go. I feel like everyone, collectively, did a good job with guarding him."
