BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 2 Stanford fell to No. 7 Cal, 154.5-145.5, in a women's swimming and diving dual meet Saturday at the Spieker Aquatics Complex. Stanford (7-2) saw its six-meet win streak come to an end but now looks ahead to the Pac-12 Conference Championships (Feb. 27-March 2) in Federal Way, Wash.

"Today was a great college swim meet between two strong teams," Stanford head coach Greg Meehan said. "Congratulations to Cal on an excellent performance. I think we learned a lot from ourselves today and the learning process is absolutely going to help us over the next two weeks and beyond."

Cal (1:38.67) posted a win in the 200 medley relay in front of Felicia Lee, Sarah Haase, Andi Murez's 1:39.69.

Allison Brown (9:55.37) responded with a win for Stanford in the 1,000 free with Andie Taylor (9:57.17) taking second. Lee (53.00) came back with a win in the 100 back and Taylor (1:58.63) posted a silver-worthy finish in the 200 fly. Lee (53.48) was second in the 100 fly.

Taylor went on to win the 500 free in 4:47.88.

Murez (1:45.64) was second and Julia Anderson (1:47.43) was third in the 200 free.

Cal's Kahley Rowell (285.15) was first in the 3-meter event, though Stanford took the next three spots behind the efforts of Stephanie Phipps (284.33), Kelly Markle (279.68) and Lillian Hinrichs (268.20).

The Cardinal was even better in the 1-meter, with Phipps earning the win with 294.53 points. In fact, Stanford swept the first four spots as Phipps was followed by Markle (265.50), Hinrichs (262.28) and Sloane Brazina (257.40).

"We had a good 1-meter showing, and Stephanie was very good today," head diving coach Rick Schavone said.

Katie Olsen (1:00.73) and Hasse (1:01.30) finished behind Cal's Caitlin Leverenz (59.77) in the 100 breast. The 200 breast featured the same order of finish, with Olsen going 2:11.81 and Haase finishing in 2:14.29.

The fastest time in the 50 free was recorded by Schaefer (22.37), who also took first in the 100 free with a 48.99. Murez (49.03) touched second in the 100 free.

Annemarie Thayer (1:56.71) was second in the 200 back and Haase (2:01.51) was fourth in the 200 individual medley.

Murez, Schaefer, Ama and Lee teamed to finish first in the 400 free relay with a 3:16.96.
